Speaker 1:

Hello, today's topic is, once again, our identity in Christ, and we are looking at the topic of. I am assured all things work together for good. We often find ourselves asking how difficult circumstances can possibly work for good. When we face trials, suffering and uncertainty, it's easy to question whether anything good can come from our pain. But in Romans 8, verse 28, god offers us a promise of incredible assurance For those who love God and are called according to his purpose. All things, both good and bad, are working together for a greater purpose our ultimate good and God's glory. Well, hello, my name is James Long Jr.

Speaker 1:

I'm a pastor, counselor and university professor. Welcome to Lessons for Life, where I help people whose pain from their past or their present is influencing their perspective on life Through teaching them about a person, the Lord Jesus Christ, principles and promises from God's Word, and giving them a pathway for change. My goal is to guide you towards peace, hope and joy. In today's lesson, we will be exploring how God's truth can transform your life and how to experience the joy of forgiveness and freedom found in Christ alone. The passage of scripture that we're going to be looking at today once again is from Romans, chapter 8, verse 28. It says this, and we know that for those who love God, all things work together for good for those who are called according to his purpose. Here's the devotional thought Romans, chapter 8, verse 28, isn't a promise of earthly comfort, success or pain-free life. Instead, it reassures us that God weaves together everything in our lives, including suffering, temptation and trials, into a plan that shapes us into the image of Christ. The good mentioned in the verse goes far beyond temporal ease. It points us to something deeper a closer fellowship with God, greater Christ-likeness and, ultimately, our final glorification with Him. In the same chapter, paul reminds us of the eternal security that we have in Christ in Romans 8.29-30.

Speaker 1:

The promise from God is not just about this life, but it's also about the life to come. God is orchestrating every detail in our lives, even when we cannot see it. The suffering we endure now is shaping us to bear good fruit for His kingdom and drawing us nearer to our future glory in Him. When we face hardships, it is essential to remember that this promise is reserved for those who love God and are called according to His purpose. If you are a believer in Christ, this promise belongs to you. It's an invitation to trust God's plan, even when we don't understand it, bringing it home, applying what we've learned.

Speaker 1:

Three points Number one trust in God's sovereignty. God is weaving everything, good and bad, into a greater plan that leads to your ultimate good and to His glory. 2. Look for growth. Hardships are opportunities for growth, molding you to become more like Christ and deepening your fellowship with God. 3. Remember the bigger picture.

Speaker 1:

Life's difficulties may not make sense in the moment, but God is working through them to bring about eternal good and final glorification. Let's pray, father. I thank you so much for the assurance that all things work together for good for those who love you. Help me to trust your perfect plan, even when I don't understand my circumstances. Teach me to rest in your promises and draw closer to you through every trial. Mold me into the image of Christ and give me peace of knowing that you are always working for my good. In your son's matchless name, we pray Amen. Well, thank you for joining me today.
